Richard Stanley, born in London, Ontario, Canada, is an award-winning film director, producer and screenwriter. He was raised in Toronto by his mother after his parents divorced when he was two years old. His first big break came when he created the role of the alien Peevish on the long-running television series "The Twilight Zone" (1959). Stanley went on to direct critically acclaimed films including The Sword and the Sorcerer (1982), Hardware (1990) and Ginger Snaps (2000)
He co-wrote the screenplay for the film adaptation of Stephen King's novel "Misery" (1990).
